I built the Reversible Roughout Suede Leather Belt Mocha because I could not find one.
I have roughout boots I wear constantly, and smooth leather belts never looked right with them. The texture mismatch bothered me every time I got dressed. So I looked for a proper roughout suede leather belt and found almost nothing worth buying. What existed was either cheap, the wrong colour, or sized in S, M and L like a t-shirt.
So I made my own. And then I made it do something else too.
The outside of the Reversible Roughout Suede Leather Belt Mocha is a deep, warm mocha roughout suede from Tärnsjö Garveri in Sweden. Tärnsjö has been vegetable-tanning leather since 1873 and they are among the remaining five percent of tanneries worldwide still doing it the traditional way. I stitch that suede directly onto a 4mm full-grain Natural vegetable-tanned leather base, also from Tärnsjö. Light brown thread runs along the seam, visible against the suede face, clean and deliberate. The combined thickness comes to 5-6mm. Rigid enough to hold its shape through a full day, light enough that you stop noticing you are wearing it.
The inside is Natural full-grain leather. It starts pale and develops a deep cognac patina the longer you wear it. Two Chicago screws hold the buckle to the leather. Remove them, flip the strap, reattach the buckle and you have a completely different belt. The mocha suede side for your roughout boots and raw denim. The natural leather side when you want something smoother and warmer in tone. One belt. Two very different looks.
The Harry buckle is sand-cast in solid metal. You choose copper, brass or stainless steel when you order. Copper and brass will darken over time. Stainless stays clean and precise. The same Chicago screw system that makes the roughout suede leather belt reversible also means it is fully repairable. If a screw ever works loose or hardware needs replacing years from now, you fix it. Nothing is glued. Nothing is hidden.
Every Reversible Roughout Suede Leather Belt Mocha is made to order at your exact waist measurement in centimetre increments. I cut your leather after you place the order. Current production time is 7-10 days before it ships.
If anything goes wrong at any point, my lifetime warranty covers it. I repair the belt. Not a returns label. An actual repair.
The Reversible Roughout Suede Leather Belt Mocha is for the person who has roughout boots and has been settling for a smooth leather belt because nothing better existed. It existed now.
Reversible Roughout Suede Leather Belt Mocha – Product Benefits
- Built for roughout boots, wearable with everything else: The mocha suede face matches the texture and tone of roughout and waxy leather boots in a way smooth leather never does. Flip to the Natural full-grain side and the same belt works with your everyday shoes and a cleaner outfit.
- Tärnsjö suede stitched to a full-grain base: The roughout suede is hand-stitched onto a 4mm vegetable-tanned Natural leather foundation with light brown thread. The result is 5-6mm of combined thickness that holds its shape without feeling heavy on the hip.
- Genuinely reversible via Chicago screws: Unscrew two screws, flip the leather, reattach the buckle. Under a minute. The same construction means every part of the belt can be repaired or replaced for the life of the leather.
- Natural leather that gets better with age: The inside face starts pale and develops a rich personal patina with daily wear. No two belts age identically. Yours will look like nobody else’s after a year.
- Custom sized to your exact centimetre: Made to the measurement you provide, not a generic size. If the fit is off despite following the sizing guide, I remake it.

SIZE
Measure once — and the belt fits perfectly.
Watch the video:
Method 1:
- Put on your favourite jeans
- Measure from the top button through the belt loops back to the main button again
- If you are between sizes, round up to the next cm (for example, if your measurement is 92.4 cm, order 93 cm)
Method 2:
- Measure your existing belt from the tip of the buckle pin to the hole you use most. Keep the belt flat while you measure.
- If you are between sizes, round up to the next cm (for example, if your measurement is 92.4 cm, order 93 cm)
Every belt is cut to your exact measurement, not S, M or L. That means you get a belt that fits precisely — but it requires you to measure carefully following the instructions above. Do not use your jeans size. Measure an existing belt or follow the measuring guide — it takes a minute and makes all the difference.
Over 950 belts have left the workshop. Three have come back because of a sizing issue. All three had not followed the measuring instructions.
If you measure correctly and the belt still does not fit — I adjust it at no cost. That is my promise.
THE CRAFT IN DETAIL
Quality in every detail.
ÄLMHULT, SWEDEN
One craftsman. One workshop. Everything made by hand.
Palsjö is a one-man workshop in Älmhult, a small town in the Småland region of Sweden. Every product is made by one person — me. My name is Mano. I cut the leather, I assemble it, I finish it and I send it to you.
This is not a romantic idea. It is about accountability. When the same person does everything, there is no one else to blame if something falls short. Every item that leaves this workshop carries my name — and that is how I want it to stay.
Products from Palsjö are made to be repaired, not replaced. Every technique used in this workshop, from hand cutting to edge burnishing, was learned the slow way, through years of trial and correction, not a course or a certificate. That kind of skill shows in the smallest details most people never notice but somehow always feel. The leather is built to last a lifetime, and the warranty reflects exactly that.
