How to measure your belt correctly

Method 1:

  1. Wear your favourite pair of jeans
  2. Measure from the main button through the belt loops to the main button again
  3. If you are between sizes, round it off to the next number (e.g. if your size is 92.4 cm, order 93cm)

How to measure a belt

Method 2:

  1. Measure your existing belt from the tip of the buckle to the most used hole. Straighten your belt while you measure.
  2. If you are between sizes, round it off to the next number (e.g. if your size is 92.4 cm, order 93cm)

How to measure a belt

Note: We want our belts to fit you perfectly. Hence, we offer our belts in 1cm increments.  Every belt is built once we receive an order and is sized to your exact waist measurement. Therefore, our belts are not returnable or refundable.

The Heritage Gunslinger Western Leather Belt Brown is the colour that vegetable-tanned leather was made for. Brown is not a compromise between black and dark brown; it is the natural destination of full-grain hide that has been properly tanned and honestly dyed. It is warm without being loud, rich without being heavy, and it sits against denim, chinos, and leather boots in a way that looks considered without requiring any effort. Brown leather and the Western aesthetic have been inseparable for over a century, and the gunslinger pattern running the length of this belt is the reason why.

Most brown belts are not made from real leather. They are pressed fibre or split hide with a brown coating on top that begins to crack and peel within a year of daily wear. The colour lifts away from the surface and leaves behind something grey and tired that no amount of conditioning will fix. That is not a maintenance problem. That is a materials problem, and it cannot be solved by buying the same type of belt again.

The Heritage Gunslinger Western Leather Belt Brown is cut from a single layer of 10oz full-grain vegetable-tanned leather, 4mm thick, from the thickest part of the hide at Tärnsjö Garveri, a Swedish tannery that has been working leather since 1873. Tärnsjö holds a Royal Swedish Purveyor designation and their leather is TÜV Rheinland and OCS certified. The brown is aniline dyed using soluble dyes that penetrate the full thickness of the hide. There is no topcoat, no pigment layer, no synthetic coating sitting on the surface waiting to crack. What you see is the colour of the leather itself, which means the grain is fully visible and the character of the hide is completely intact.

The gunslinger stitch pattern runs the full length of the Heritage Gunslinger Western Leather Belt Brown. This is a traditional Western decorative stitch, characterised by its scalloped peaks and diamond-shaped valleys, with origins in the gun belts, holsters, and back billets of working Western leather goods. On a brown belt the pattern has a warmth and a legibility that works equally well with raw selvedge denim and tan leather boots as it does with a smarter casual trouser and a leather shoe. It is the detail that separates this belt from every plain brown belt in the same price range, and it is stitched with heavy-duty Gütermann thread that will not fade or weaken over years of daily wear.

The belt comes with a solid brass centre bar buckle. Brass and brown leather is a combination with real history behind it and the pairing works here the same way it always has — naturally, without needing explanation. The buckle will not rust or corrode and it develops its own warm patina alongside the leather as the years pass. The edges are burnished and lightly hand-waxed. The belt is stamped with my maker’s mark and custom sized to your exact centimetre measurement, not to a generic S, M, or L that may or may not put the buckle where it should sit.

Brown vegetable-tanned leather from Tärnsjö develops one of the most satisfying patinas of any leather colour. It starts warm and honest and deepens with use into something richer and more personal with every month of wear. The areas that flex most will lighten slightly over time, creating a natural tonal variation across the surface of the Heritage Gunslinger Western Leather Belt Brown that no two belts will replicate exactly. After a year of daily wear it looks like something that belongs specifically to you. After five years it looks like something you would never consider replacing.

If you have been replacing cheap brown belts every year or two and you are tired of it, the Heritage Gunslinger Western Leather Belt Brown is the straightforward answer. Buy it once, wear it daily, and watch it get better.

My lifetime warranty covers this belt. If anything fails in the construction, I fix it.

Heritage Gunslinger Western Leather Belt Brown Product Benefits

  • Aniline-dyed warm brown: Soluble dyes penetrate the full 4mm thickness of the hide. No topcoat, no pigment layer. The colour will not crack, peel, or lift and the natural grain of the leather remains fully visible.
  • Single-layer 10oz full-grain leather: One continuous piece of Tärnsjö leather, 4mm thick, cut from the thickest part of the hide. Nothing to delaminate, nothing to separate at the buckle, nothing to break down over years of daily wear.
  • Gunslinger stitch pattern: A traditional Western decorative pattern with scalloped peaks and diamond-shaped valleys. Originally used on gun belts and holsters. Stitched in heavy-duty Gütermann thread the full length of the belt. Sits naturally against warm brown leather.
  • Solid brass centre bar buckle: A combination with real history behind it. Rust-proof, corrosion-proof, and included with the belt. Develops its own warm patina alongside the leather.
  • Custom sized to the centimetre: Made to your exact measurement so the buckle always sits where it should. Not S, M, or L.
