What makes Palsjö leather belts unique
Palsjö belts are unique due to their exceptional craftsmanship, using only full grain vegetable-tanned leather from Sweden’s Tärnsjö Garveri. Each belt is handmade by skilled artisans and custom sized to your exact measurements, ensuring a perfect fit and a piece that will last a lifetime.
How should I measure the belts?
Method 1:
- Wear your favourite pair of jeans
- Measure from the main button through the belt loops to the main button again
- If you are between sizes, round it off to the next number (e.g. if your size is 92.4 cm, order 93cm)

- Measure your existing belt from the tip of the buckle to the most used hole. Straighten your belt while you measure.
- If you are between sizes, round it off to the next number (e.g. if your size is 92.4 cm, order 93cm)
What kind of animal hide do you use?
All our leather is made from cow skin. This is a by product of the meat industry. Typically the skin is the least valuable part of a cow. And usually it is just discarded and thrown away. Instead of letting it end up in the landfills, Tärnsjö Garveri takes skins from the meat industry and creates these beautiful and durable leather.
What does "Genuine Leather" mean? Is it good quality?
“Genuine leather” is a general term that can refer to several grades of leather. While it is real leather, it is very often not the highest quality. It is very often made from the remaining layer of the hide after the top layer is split off. It generally doesn’t last or look as good as full grain leather. For the highest quality, we only use full grain leather. This is the most desirable and premium split of the leather.
What is full-grain leather?
Full grain leather is the highest quality grade of leather. It comes from the top layer of the hide. It retains all the natural grain, making it super durable, resistant to stretching, and it develops a beautiful patina over time. You’ll often see natural markings on full grain leather. When you imagine a nicely aged leather item from several decades ago, it is most likely made of full grain leather.
What's the difference between full-grain, top-grain, and bonded leather?
- Full-grain: the entire top layer, most durable and develops that gorgeous patina we all love and cherish.
- Top-Grain: The top layer is sanded and finished to remove imperfections, making it thinner and more uniform. It is less durable than full-grain leather.
- Bonded leather: Made from leather scraps bonded together using adhesives. This leather is the least durable and doesn’t age nicely like full-grain or top-grain leather. This is usually he leather used in dirt cheap items and very often called “genuine leather”. We never have and never will ever use bonded leather.
What is vegetable-tanned leather?
Vegetable tanning is a traditional, natural process using plant based tannins. It results in a rather firm and stiff leather that is durable, resistant to stretching and develops a rich patina. It is often considered the “gold standard” for quality leather goods. All our belts are made using full grain vegetable tanned leather from Tärnsjö Garveri in Sweden.
How long should a good leather belt last?
Full grain leather is an extremely durable material. If taken care of by oiling and conditioning it when it gets dry, a leather belt can last decades. I still use my belt from 15 years ago. No problems at all! And that’s why we are so confident to offer lifetime warranty on our belts.
Will your leather belts stretch or warp?
High quality full-grain veg tanned leather is less prone to stretching and warping compared to lower grade leather. While some minimal stretching may occur naturally over time, our belts are designed for longevity and to main their shape.
Do you offer a warranty on your leather belts?
Yes! We proudly and confidently offer a lifetime warranty on all our belts. If there is ever a problem with the belt, we will repair it at no cost. Simply send us the belt and pay for the nominal shipping costs. Repairs is always free.
